Rio Real Golf Course

The Rio Real golf course was designed by the legendary Javier Arana, considered to be the best Spanish designer of all time.

Located in the most prestigious area of Marbella, just 5 minutes from the city centre, this golf course opened in 1965. The golf course runs alongside the Rio Real River, from which it takes its name, and forms an integral part of the course, right up until it reaches the Mediterranean Sea.

Its design makes it a spectacular course. With 18 holes and more than 6,000m in length, the Royal Spanish Golf Federation considers it to be a prestigious golf course and one of the best in Spain, both for its layout, as well as it unique beauty.

The course has a wide variety of different species of trees: Pine, Palm, Casuarinas, Olive, Cypress, etc. which make it the ideal place to play golf, both on foot and in golf carts.

Thanks to its Mediterranean climate, one can play all year around, with seafront holes and spectacular views.

Rio Real Golf Course is the oldest course in the Marbella area and is among the top 40 courses in Spain. The front 9 holes is the tougher of the two which has narrow tree lined fairways.  The signature 4th hole runs along with coast giving spectacular sea view when reaching the green.
