The Great Sugar Loaf Mountain is visible across the valley, between the tall elegant beech trees. The avenue slopes down, through woodland, before revealing the Palladian elegance of Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa, with its breathtaking views. Located on the famous Powerscourt Estate, one of Ireland’s finest estates, with its historic house, beautifully manicured garden and its waterfall, the highest in Ireland, you may be just half an hour from Dublin but it could be a million miles away.
Outstanding among luxury five star hotels in Ireland and set amidst one of the most scenic and historic estates in the country is Powerscourt Hotel, a 194-room resort showcasing Palladian-style architecture and offering guests a host of amenities. Recently named AA Hotel of the Year, two championship golf courses, a 30,000-square foot luxury spa by ESPA, a signature restaurant and traditional Irish pub are among this luxury hotel’s distinctive attractions.
Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa’s 194 spacious rooms and suites form the benchmark by which Irish hotel accommodation is measured. There are seven accommodation styles, from the Classic Deluxe double room to the Presidential Suite, with its stunning rooftop terrace enjoying views of the Wicklow mountains.
Rooms which average at 700 sq feet/68 sq metres, come with marble bathrooms, rainforest showers, interactive televisions, recessed bathroom TV’s, complimentary high-speed Wifi, air conditioning and many other fixtures, fittings and features.
The two championship golf courses are situated among the truly magnificent Powerscourt Estate which is home to 1,000 acres of what needs to be seen to be believed. Powerscourt is everything that symbolises Ireland’s natural beauty.
The East course was designed by the talented golfer and successful Walker cup captain Peter McEvoy who brilliantly follows the contours of this mature and historic landscape. It has hosted the 1998 Irish PGA which three time major winner Padraig Harrington won in a playoff. The East course also hosted the 2001 Irish Seniors Open.
The West course offers a completely different feel and test and brings David Mclay Kidd’s (Bandon Dunes in Oregan) experience and detail for a challenging, rewarding and highly enjoyable golf course to life. The beautiful scenery and the greens from the West course can be heard talked about in the clubhouse all evening long from our visitors who want a second chance at it.
It is no wonder that we received the best overall parkland venue award 2014. This award not only showcases our two magnificent courses but the overall venue for all kinds of events and functions. The clubhouse overlooks the 9th and 18th hole on the East and 18th on the West which really brings every aspect of the course into view. Unlike many other golf courses Powerscourt has full greens and tees all year-round which we know all golfers love to hear. Playing the course the way our famous designers intended.
