Lagos golf holidays are truly a fantastic experience, here at golfbreaks.ie we are always quick to recommend Lagos to any group thinking of travelling to the Algarve. It is a destination rich in history and has many interesting places to visit along with its lovely hotels and offers many good golf courses in close proximity.
One of the most popular hotels for golfers is the Tivoli Lagos Hotel, which provides lovely 4* accommodation at a very reasonable price, and it could not be located in a more ideal setting, right in the centre of the town. Lagos is not a huge town but there are many bars and restaurants to enjoy and you will have plenty of choice during your stay. Lagos also has some great golf courses in close proximity to the town, with Palmares being a real treat for golfers, then there are also the Boavista and Espiche golf courses to enjoy.
There are also many other popular hotels for golf groups including a great value self-catering option, the Vilabranca Resort, and then the Vila Gale Lagos Hotel and the Marina Club Lagos. All of these options have been enjoyed by many golfbreaks.ie customers and always meet with their expectations.
The original part of Lagos is still circled by the city walls, which were built many centuries ago during a time when the region was the home of the governors of the Algarve. Lagos has a wonderful Marina for tourists to enjoy with many bars and restaurants. The main beach in Lagos is the beautiful Meia Praia Beach and has been touted as one of the nicest in Portugal. This wonderful beach stretches 4km of golden sand and also has many beach bars to enjoy a drink. The dock area of the Marina is a lovely place where many fishing boats can be seen selling fresh fish caught earlier in the day.
Overall, Lagos golf holidays are definitely a hit, it is a bit further from Faro airport than some of the other resorts (approx. 90kms) however, it is certainly worth the transfer time.
